We now have a new Intercontinental Champion who indeed is the son of a former IC champion himself, who also competed in a tournament for the IC title.
Curtis Axel is our new IC champion, as we all know.
Now, it seems only logical that at Money In The Bank, Axel will fight Miz in a title bout, and of course, he will win.
After that, what would be next? Some feud with some random superstar that will probably be forgotten about throughout the show?
What WWE should do is bring back the mid-card tournaments. After MITB, they should have a little 8 man tournament that has the winner of that tournament facing Curtis Axel for his Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam.
They had the idea for the Intercontinental cup, but never did it.
This puts major legitimacy to the IC title, as well as putting it on a pedestal. People fighting for a chance to be number one contender reveals a lot.
Perhaps have the final match be a No Holds Barred match, with the winner fighting Axel at SummerSlam.
Here is an example of a Tournament I had in mind:
Round 1:
The Miz vs Fandango: Winner: The Miz
Chris Jericho vs Wade Barrett: Winner: Chris Jericho
Damien Sandow vs Sin Cara: Winner: Damien Sandow
Antonio Cesaro vs Zack Ryder: Winner: Antonio Cesaro
Semi-Finals:
Chris Jericho vs Antonio Cesaro: Winner: Chris Jericho
Damien Sandow vs The Miz: Winner: Damien Sandow
Finals:
Chris Jericho vs Damien Sandow (No Holds Barred Match - Finals) = Chris Jericho
This will lead to Chris Jericho vs Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam. (The feud makes sense as Heyman already has a feud with Jericho.
